Northrop's Scott headlines IBCA/Subway Players of the Week

INDIANA -- Fort Wayne Northrop senior Bryson Scott headlines this week's IBCA/Subway Players of the Week after leading his team to a 4-1 record and a Summit Athletic Conference Tournament championship.

The Purdue recruit is joined by Roncalli senior Michael Clements, Columbus North junior Evan Henry, West Noble senior Haley Richardson, Lebanon senior Katie Curtis, Evansville Mater Dei junior Maura Muensterman and Columbus North junior Tayler Goodall as honorees in the awards program overseen by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

Scott, a 6-2 guard, claimed boys' District 1 accolades after he averaged 21.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals over five games. Highlights included 33 points against Fort Wayne Snider, 11 rebounds against Fort Wayne South, seven assists against Fort Wayne South and seven steals against Indianapolis Tech as the Bruins (10-2) defeated Fort Wayne South, Fort Wayne Snider and Fort Wayne Concordia in the SAC Tournament. Northrop also defeated Jay County after falling to Indianapolis Tech in the City Securities Hall of Fame Classic.

Clements and Henry were chosen for accolades in boys' District 2 and boys' District 3, respectively.

The 6-7 Clements averaged 29.5 and 6.0 rebounds over two games. First, Clements tallied 30 points and seven rebounds on 13-of-20 shooting to lead Roncalli (4-4) to a 69-60 victory over Hanover Central. Clements followed with 29 points, five rebounds and five blocks in a 66-49 loss to Hamilton Heights.

Henry was cited after earning MVP honors and leading Columbus North (9-1) to the championship of the Bob Wettig Invitational in Richmond. A 6-2 guard, Henry averaged 15.0 points and 5.3 rebounds over four games, including 20 points in a 61-55 championship game victory over Jeffersonville and 17 points in a 67-48 semifinal win over the host Red Devils.

Richardson and Curtis were respective girls' honorees in Districts 1 and 2, while Muensterman and Goodall shared District 3 accolades.

The 6-2 Richardson paced West Noble (9-4) to a 75-62 victory over Tippecanoe Valley in its only game of the week. The Ball State recruit produced 25 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and five steals while hitting 11-of-19 shots for the Chargers.

Curtis paced Lebanon (11-2) to the championship of the Twin Lakes Invitational, averaging 20.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals over three games. A 5-6 guard, Curtis tallied 23 points with two rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 76-58 win over Evansville Memorial. The Colgate recruit added 13 points, three rebounds, five assists and five steals in a 56-34 victory over Western. She concluded with 24 points, three rebounds, five assists and five steals in a 72-52 triumph over Twin Lakes.

Muensterman and Goodall both shined in the City Securities Hall of Fame Classic.

The 5-11 Muensterman averaged 31.0 points in helping Evansville Mater Dei (12-1) to a runner-up finish in the 29th annual event. She tallied a semifinal-record 40 points in an 83-54 win over Logansport. She added 22 points in a 63-55 setback to Columbus North. Over both games, she was 25-of-40 from the field, including 9-of-15 from 3-point range.

Goodall averaged 21.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in leading Columbus North (14-0) to the Hall of Fame Classic championship and claiming tourney MVP honors. The 5-9 guard opened with 19 points, four rebounds and five steals in a 53-30 victory over Hamilton Southeastern. Goodall followed with 23 points (including 5-of-7 3-pointers), six rebounds and three steals in the win over Mater Dei.

This is the fifth season for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week program and the first season it is presented by Subway Restaurants of Indiana, a primary sponsor of the IBCA. Subway, in its third season as an IBCA sponsor, encourages athletes to "play hard and eat fresh."

Player of the Week winners are chosen each week from each of the IHSAA's three districts. Girls winners will be chosen from now through the week following March 2. Boys winners be selected from now through the week following March 23.
